Mike's Iron Gods Session Notes
Iron Gods Notes – Torch Relit (Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014 Session)

·      Party interrogates Sanvil (Technic League Agent/Traitor to Torch)
o   The Headache Machine relays signals to the north.  Potentially to the town called Scrapwall, where there is not much Technic League influence.  A town of thieves and other shady types.
o   Sanvil worked for and reported to Technic League Captain Gartel, who resides in Starfell.  Cpt. Gartel is an alchemist.
o   There is an infamous Technic League high-ranking official who went rogue and started dealing with the demonic.
o   Radiation has been used by the League to create zombies, but they’re unpredictable.  Radiation is invisible and makes one sick if exposed too long.
o   Sanvil instructs the party how to turn off the Headache Machine (which is equivalent to a technological artifact).
·      Party sleeps overnight in Tavern
·      Party ventures into caves again
o   Battle small fungal creature that uses claws – Fungal Crawler.  Defeat it.
o   Skulks tell us the purple-haired female android and her ratfolk, orc, and robot minions have not exited the area below.
o   Room w/ old kennels, party clears stairs down, we go down.
o   Encounter hybrid android/robot, defeat it, get Stun Gun [Lazarus]
o   Alarm goes off, states, “Pulling subject out of stasis.”  Door opens and four-armed bipedal creature with multiple weapons appears.  Party communicates non-verbally, eventually the creature goes to the desert area underground.
o   Encounter 3 small spiky creatures and slay them.
o   Encounter 2 small hedgehog like creatures and slay them.
o   Party returns back to upper deck.
§  Circular room w/ list of decks (deck 3 has bright blue light, other lights dim blue) and hollow ceiling that is actually a broken lift between levels.
§  Next room and battle and defeat 6 Vegepygmies
§  Enter large dark room with lots of vegetation and doors.  Battle a Weed Whip plant creature we defeat.
§  Next door opened leads to body with burst belly that spawned a Vegepygmie.  Creature has a belt pouch with 3 Vials of Potions of Cure Moderate Wounds; +1 Ring of Protection; 15 gp; 4 Holy Symbols of Brigg (25 gp each); 3 Masterwork Light Hammers; Masterwork Chainmail; 60 gp
§  Enter room with stagnant water. Battle and defeat medium Vegepygmie and small Vegepygmies.  Get +1 Light Hammer; 9 silver discs
o   Party returns to surface.
§  As exiting water attacked by 2 rope fist thugs and 2 gun-wielding Technic League musclemen as they demand we hand over our androids.  No way.  We fight and we defeat them.  Party gets 190 gp (total gear, etc from thugs); Masterwork Studded Leather; Masterwork Breastplate [Maligann]; 45 gp; Fire Pistol (1d10 fire damage) [Lazarus]; Ray Gun (1d6 nonlethal vs. Robots; 2d6 nonlethal vs. Androids) [Raka]; Dart Gun (allows filling with poison or other pharmaceutical that gets applied automatically to darts shot out – limited charged weapon) [Glowbug]; 2 unusable broken pistol firearms (300 gp value total for selling)
§  We interrogate Tech League agent, but when Glowbug tried to remove his chip his head exploded and injured Glowbug.  Oops, sorry about your luck, Technic League scum.
o   Party returns to Torch.  Buys 50 charge Wand of CLW (600 gp cost from party treasure).  Party rests overnight after turning off Headache Machine.
·      Party ventures into caves again
o   Encounter Thilosins (have critical bite threat), which are defeated.
o   Encounter orcs and ratfolk in room with dented walls where they try to hide.  Defeat them.  Party gets as total loot value from their foes 1370 gp and 3 small Screaming Bolts.
o   Go to room with cushioned chairs and side rooms.  Find and keep, after Naga-Saki consumes one, 31 space rations (tubes of food).
o   Go to curved room with balcony, pink glass table with hologram.  Fight Gargoyle (DR 10/Magic).  Defeat it.  Also find altar to unidentifiable evil god.  Get 48 silver discs; Visual Modification Goggles (1 charge/day allows +2 Perception) [Naga-Saki]; Med-Lance (we place another of the CMW we found in it) [Lazarus]; Zip Stick and 2 Rolls of Tape; Proximity Helm (detect things trying to sneak around you) [Glowbug]
o   Enter room with humming noise.  Encounter the purple haired female android and robot.  Kick their asses, although Lazarus’ Ray Gun fizzes out and is no longer usable.  Get +1 Infernal Pistol (w/ 10 charges); 2 Nannite Cannisters; 1 White Access Card; Black Nannite Hypo Gun (w/ 5 charges); 200 gp; Masterwork Spiked Gauntlet; Holy Symbol w/ Talon (of Hellion).  Also discover complex machine in room that has another machine hooked to it.  Glowbug makes difficult role and discovers how to disable power transmitter on big machine.  Torch is relit!  Party also retrieved timeworn Auto Grapple; Odd Armor; and Portable Alchemy Identifier.
o   Party returns to Torch.  We interrogate the female android.  She has nothing but bile for those of us who are not androids.  She is a follower of the deity Hellion (an actual devil god?); seeks the rise of the machines; wants all “evil” humans and the “evil god of unity” destroyed.  We release her to Torch authorities and she is executed.  Good riddance.
o   Torch rewards party with 4000 gp!
o   There is potentially the “evil god in the north.”
o   We now have a couple months downtime.  Mitch will create list of treasure found; people need to pick items they might want; sell and buy stuff; then we move on.
o   We all make 4th level!
o   Treasure up to this point has been distributed/sold for gp.

Iron Gods Notes – On The Road to Scrapwall (Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014 Session)

·      Party travels to city of Harjoth-Hakados
o   Glowbug addressing personal issues; not with party during this session
o   Party meets with large 6-armed, green woman named “Cythrul.”  She is one of very few openly “out” aliens in Numeria.  Maligannt confirms she is not evil.  She says she’s not a friend of the Technic League and she also has access to the Lady Altuna (Half-Elf  leader of city).
·      Party returns to Torch (Invitations)
o   Party receives two invitations to meetings:  (1) From Torch council and (2) from Priest of Brigh.
o   Council:  Entity “Hellion” is Scrapwall has designs on Torch.  Will pay party 8,000 gp to investigate and address Hellion issue.  Party learns that en route to Scrapwall they will be passing by Aldenard’s Grave, a site ran by Sarenrae clergy named after Aldenard (Paladin of Sarenrae) who committed suicide.
o   Brigh Priest (Jorum Kite):   His apprentice, Dinvia, went to Scrapwall years ago to hide from the Technic League.  He offers a Rod of Lesser Extend if party brings word of her status or returns her to Torch.  She has been gone 5 years.
·      En Route to Scrapwall
o   Party encounters and engages in a battle taking place between 2 robots, a Technic League agent, and barbarians.  The party soundly defeats the enemies and speaks to the agent and the barbarians.
§  The agent says he has a tracking chip and is just a lowly agent whose job is to ensure that the robots don’t kill those they are trying to capture for the Technic League.  We let the barbarian justice system handle him (yeah, he’s killed).
§  The barbarians thank the party and indicate certain hand and verbal cues that can make tribesmen favorable to the party in the future (or at least, ensure that the party doesn’t instantly offend tribesmen in future dealings).
§  Treasure:  Worn Laser Piston (Lazarus); Cloak of Resistance +1 (Naga-Saki); Nanite Cannister (Lazarus); Wand of Stabilize w/ 29 charges (Maligannt); 2 Alchemists Fire (Raka and Glowbug); 215 gp.
o   Party travels and notes large area of sickly, twisted vegetation.  Of course, Maligannt and Raka proceed into the area.  Make/fail multiple saving throws that result in lost Con and (for Maligannt) Str temporarily.  Raka bails early back to Lazarus and Naga.  Maligannt digs for some rounds and finds a large glowing green rock.  He leaves area after that.
o   Party encounters Draykavar the human bounty hunter, who summarily kicks our asses (except for Maligannt’s, who is unimpressed with how things go down and tries to take a more diplomatic approach). Draykavar has two androids trussed upside down and says he doesn’t ask questions he just carries out his assignments and the Technic League pays him.  One of the androids detects as evil to Maligannt.  Draykavar used a walloping stun gun on us, eventually knocking out Naga, Lazarus and Raka, and also was able to cast invisibility and fly on himself.  He’s kind of bad ass, but we’ll see his punk ass later!
o   Party encounters an old human traveler trader guy (a blind oracle).  Offers to sell us things that will be useful for us in the future that he says are in the sack he carries.  Price is 700 gp, sight unseen.  Raka, the skilled risk taker, offers up 500 gp and Maligannt chips in 200 gp.  Our surprise haul is – Scroll of Divination; Scroll of Magic Weapon; and Potion of Disguise Self (these are all used later this session).  The old man also casts a “beneficial” spell on Lazarus, whatever that meant.
o   Party arrives at Aldenard’s Grave, and are confronted by declarations that the place is plagued and to move along.  We call bullshit on that and do battle with a number of scarred men who are imitating Sarenrae guards.  They have old pistols and daggers.  We fight and defeat them and their leader, a guy with an axe placed in the stump of one arm.
§  They are members of Scrapwall’s “Smiler” gang.
§  We discover 4 Sarenrae surivors, including Cpt. Endolin “Crackhouse” Kraklos.  There are partially eaten human bodies around that the Smilers were grubbing on.
§  Treasure:  8 doses of “Soothe,” an alchemical compound/drug (which heals wounds but leaves blue-pink skin scars); gear worth a total of 2200 gp.
§  Chapel is rumored to be haunted.
§  We learn that Hellion is the leader of the Lords of Rust and he grants miracles.  “Fear Hellion’s Claw.”  The Lords of Rust are the troll “Helxcarg;” “Malaki” the ½ orc; “Gymander” the four-armed monster; “Drees” the chain-wielding Ettin; “Kulgara” that orc barbarin.  The purple-haired android woman was a Lord of Rust, but the Torch Council executed her when we brought her to them.
§  The Lords of Rust have a place by the arena where the troll fights people.
§  Leader of the Smilers is “Marrow.”  Marrow is a female undead hobgoblin necromancer who raises the dead and preaches the eating of flesh.  Obviously, we’ve found Maligannt’s future bride!  Marrow resides in the Smilers’ compound.
§  Party inspects haunted chapel during day and finds the drawing of a beautiful woman.  Lazarus wants to burn that right on up, but the party dampens his enthusiasm and holds off on that.  Party enters chapel at night and encounters the ghost of Aldenard the fallen paladin, Raka magics up his weapon.  Party quickly withdraws to come up with well-designed plan.  Uses divination scroll re how to put his soul to rest.  He needs forgiveness by loved one.  Maligannt uses the potion of disguise self and appears as the hot former love of Aldenard, Justinia.  Maligannt “forgives” the ghost paladin and he dissipates.
·      Maligannt is told to choose one member of party he trust the most (Raka).  Raka now has a spell-like ability to use once Breath of Life spell during this adventure path, and all other party members have a one-use spell-like ability of Cure Serious Wounds.
·      Treasure:  +1 Merciful Elven Curve Blade (Maligannt).
o   Party continues to Scrapwall.  We plan to meet up with Glowbug there.
o   Gold pieces/gold pieces equivalent gear not yet distributed.

Finding The Origins of Starfall

Lazarus made a few mistakes, but then he also had some successes as well. A lot of monsters, guards, and robots were slain in this session. We finally determined why the light of the city of Torch had gone out, and we were able to start it back up again.

Final battle! In which we kicked some ass quickly. Finally found the purple haired female android!
Another assortment of creatures to blow away!

In Torch the merchants will be willing to track anything down for you that costs 3,000 gp or less. Also they will appraise and find buyers for all technological items(I will add values in the sheet of what they will sell for once Mitch puts it up). Costs are now full for all items. The council views the 8000 gold pieces and scroll full compensation for your heroism and wants to get back to business as normal.

Alternatively you can travel to Hajoth Hakadoss.  The purchase limit there is 6,400 and if you go there I will let you know the items available. It is a seven day trip along the roads (you can go with merchants to minimize risk).  The trip takes 4 days by horse.  Provisions will cost 5gp per person. Traveling backs is the same but you can take a river boat in three days.  A boat costs 10 gp per person.

Conclusion:
There is a big parade and feast for the Heroes of Torch.  Anyone who wants to drink never has an empty glass.  You spend a couple months enjoying your fame.  About one month later there is a public execution of Meyanda the evil force behind the activation of the Torch.  The official reason for the deactivation is that she created a divine alter that was attempting to summon devils onto the plane through the energy of the torch.  This is to cover up the presence of the ruins. Connor has been cataloguing them.  You notice on one trip with him that the Skulks call Connor Flame bringer. She is thrown onto the Torch itself and screams "My Lord Hellion, shall avenge me!" This shakes the town council. About this time the corpse of Sanvil is found outside of town blown up by fireballs and bombs.

Working with Connor by this time Glowbug has deduced that the power relay was broadcasting to Scrap wall. The town Council asks for some time to get things together and asks to meet you in just about two months, after they have a chance to deal with the ruins. They also ask everyone to swear to secrecy as to the source of the torch as knowledge of a significant ruin would bring technic league agents swarming on the city.

We will begin with this meeting in a week less than three months.

More cave adventuring

As we tried to sleep in the tavern a large group of the ropefist thugs attacked us. We were able to kill many of them before the last few ran away.

Then we befriended another adventurer magus. Who went with us back into the cave. Then we fought a robot who had kidnapped some people. As we started to fight him the magus betrayed us and attacked us as well. Raka went unconscious and died while we were fighting. But then we found a scroll of resurrection that helped us kill him.

Kidnapping In Torch

The group is continuing to get more notoriety in the city of Torch.

Lazarus decides to go to the casino/bar to talk to the proprieter regarding a woman that was last seen in here. He waits a number of hours while the party is sleeping since Androids only need 4 hours of downtime each night. At 2AM he feels he has waited long enough and decides to go back to the hotel the party is staying at.

Unfortunately traveling at night is dangerous business. Lazarus is followed by a couple of Ropefist thugs. They attack him and he is knocked unconscious.

Lazarus got kidnapped by thugs in the city of Torch. Not happy...

Lazarus wakes up and they start to ask him questions about his group. Being lawful good and having low skills in Bluff, they easily realize when he not telling the truth.

In the morning the party wakes up and notices the disappearance of Lazarus. They start to ask around and find out he was kidnapped by the rope grip gang. A group of thugs in Torch that have been harassing various businesses in the city.

Warehouse District: The majority of the buildings in the northeast portion of town act as storehouses for trade goods designed by the town’s artisans.

The Path for Glory

The party now is starting to gain some fame in the city of Torch. Often going to the casino in town to attempt to gain more money. The employees keep providing coupons which give them a good deal on gambling.

Silverdisk Hall: This busy gambling house features many card tables and dice games, all played with the local silverdisk currency in exchange for whatever money travelers bring with them. Proprietor Garmen Ulreth runs the place, and is not-so-secretly assisted by a gang of Kellid thieves known as the Ropefists—a name derived from their practice of wrapping their knuckles with rope before using their fists to punish transgressors.

Lazarus has an uncanny knack for losing money gambling. He keeps thinking he can determine the probability of specific events taking place. But they keep going the way he least expects.

Lazarus joins the group and they enter the caves one more time to find more treasure.

Initial Introductions

The land of Numeria - where savage barbarism clashes with the wonders and horrors of superscience. A strange, violet bonfire burns atop the town of Torch's central hill, its flames hot enough to allow smiths to work with the hardest of exotic metals harvested from the enormous crashed starship at Numeria's heart. When the fire is suddenly extinguished, the heroes must delve into a previously unknown set of caves below the town that lead to a strange buried metallic ruin.

Lazarus woke up in a daze. He saw a female running away with purple hair.

He then found his way to a small town named Torch. Which had a beam of light emitting from the middle of the town.

But then the light went out, and he has joined a group of adventurers. The rag tag group of adventures were still unsure of themselves as well. In which we don't really know anyone in town and start to investigate how to process and make some money.

One proprietor recommends going to the temple and asking for work.

They provide us a blessing of breath underwater, which then allows the group to investigate a cavern that some people had gone missing from. We fight some mold and other small creatures and find the body. Which we return to the temple and provide a description.
